First launched in 2014 as a concept, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Black Arrow motorcycle is finally headed to production as a 2017 model. And it’s actually a bit better-looking than the concept, if I do say so, myself!
Though the company is best known for chainsaws and dirt bikes, the 2017 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Black Arrow is expected to be capable enough on paved roads. That said, there are a number of features that would seem to give the Black Arrow the edge against its British and Italian competition when the pavement ends. Along with knobby off-road tires and wire-spoked wheels, the Husky adds a protective skid plate help its engine absorb hits. The handy-dandy tie-down rack fitted on top of the 2.5 gallon fuel tank also ups the utility factor on the bike.
With a torquey, 44 HP single-cylinder engine, forgiving WP suspension, and a slipper clutch, the Black Arrow should be a fantastic first-timer bike. Its dual-sport nature, too, will give new riders plenty of room to “grow into” the bike, one adventure at a time.
There’s no word yet on US availability and pricing, but US fans shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for an announcement from Husqvarna. In the meantime, why not check out these great motorcycles you actually can buy, then head on over to Asphalt and Rubber for a bigger collection of photos of the new Husky? I’ve picked a few of my favorites, below. Enjoy!
