Win A Tesla! Save The World!

Tesla raffle

Here’s a win-win situation. Buy a raffle ticket from Climate XChange* and you stand a pretty good chance of winning a free Tesla. At the same time, you will help raise money for Climate XChange so it can spread the word about how to end our addiction to fossil fuels using market-based carbon pricing solutions.

First, let’s talk about the raffle. Many people don’t realize that when they win things, the IRS treats the value of your prize as earned income. That’s right, friends. They expect you to pay tax on your winnings! More often than not, the winner has to sell the prize to pay the tax. The whole thing turns into a major hassle and some people wind up wishing they never bought the stupid raffle ticket in the first place.

This raffle is different. The winner gets $110,450 to pay for a new Tesla Model S or Model X. Choose the color you want and the options you prefer and Tesla will build it for you. But that’s not all. First prize also comes with an additional $36,730. That’s enough money to satisfy the IRS and pay all your local sales tax and registration fees. No muss, no fuss. If you win the car, you get to register it and drive it without taking a penny out of your pocket. No other raffle does that for you.

Tesla Model SWant more? OK. If you have the winning ticket, Climate XChange will throw in a home charger and $500 to pay an electrician to install it for you. It’s the perfect “everybody wins, no hassle” raffle. Only 2000 tickets will be sold, which makes your odds of winning pretty good — especially compared to your local state lottery, where you chances of winning are about the same as being struck by lightning at midnight during a full moon.

Okay. It’s a pretty terrific raffle. What’s this Climate XChange stuff all about? That’s simple. People make most of their buying decisions based on economics. Just watch shoppers at your local grocery store comparing prices to see this principle in action. We all want the best deal we can get — it’s human nature. Businesses do the same thing. They have to operate as efficiently as possible in order to be competitive.

The problem with fossil fuels is, the companies that sell them have figured out how to avoid paying the true cost of using them. The cost of the illness and disease that result from polluted air, polluted water, and polluted land are often paid for by you, the taxpayer. Those costs are hidden in your tax bills. You can’t see them, but they are there. In addition, the nations of the world give away more than $400 billion dollars a year in subsidies to fossil fuel companies, according to a recent report from Oil Change International. Add in the trillions of dollars the United States has spent on our military to protect our access to foreign oil over the past 70 years and a truly staggering amount of money has been spent to support fossil fuel industries, all of it paid for by US taxpayers.

China PollutionMarket-based carbon pricing measures will not only help fend off the worst effects of climate change, they will remove an enormous albatross from around the necks of American taxpayers. That can provide a much needed boost to our economy and lead to as many as 2,000,000 new jobs in the renewable energy industry. The province of British Columbia has already proven that carbon pricing works to reduce the use of fossil fuels and boost the local economy. The states of Washington and Massachusetts have bills pending that will put carbon pricing policies in effect. The city of Portland, Oregon, has just enacted new laws that ban new facilities to store or transport fossil fuels.

The movement to reduce or eliminate the use of fossil fuels is growing stronger every day, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Those wealthy multinational energy corporations are not going to give up the free ride they get at taxpayer expense easily. So, click the link and buy a raffle ticket now. They’re going fast and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Then sit back and think about how exciting it will be to drive your brand new Tesla. Even if you don’t win, you will help Climate XChange continue educating us and our political leaders about the many benefits of market-based carbon pricing.

Good luck and thank you.
