85.71 MPH is the New, Human-Powered Speed Record

This streamlined, carbon fiber shelled street missile just blasted its way into the record books by hitting 85.71 MPH on human power alone. That’s about two miles per hour faster than the previous record, and just a bit slower than the theoretical 90 MPH of the Arion1 Velocipede concept.

85 MPH is certainly a fast bike- you know, for not being rocket-powered– but don’t go engraving any trophies, yet. The World Human Powered Speed Challenge is still underway in Nevada, and this speed record may fall again!
