Mercedes’ CLA line of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive 4 cyl. sedans has been a huge success for the brand, filling an entry-level niche once occupied by the solid Mercedes-Benz C Class, which has grown quite a bit since was called the 190 series back in the 1980s. As successful as the CLA has been, however, some potential CLA buyers have lamented the lack of a more versatile hatchback or wagon option. To those patient people, I have but this to say: meet the new-for-2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake.
Not quite a wagon and not quite a hatchback, the shooting brake is the sportiest of the various cargo-hauling body options, and its addition to the CLA lineup will underscore the model’s sporting intentions. That’s especially true of the super extra sporty CLA45 AMG model, which will surely carry a pricing premium over the sedan when it arrives.
You can check out a few more photos of this highly-anticipated new Mercedes, below, courtesy of Paul Tan, who “caught” the lightly camouflaged and perfectly positioned CLA Shooting Brake in his home country. After you’re done ooh-ing and aah-ing over the car’s sexy curves, feel free to start up a lively debate as to the veracity of any “spy” photography in 2015 in the comments section at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!
