Call it a rip-off, a knock-off, or even an homage, if you like. Whatever you call the aggressively styled Youxia X, however, there is no denying that the Chinese electric car was inspired by the Tesla Model S super-sedan that Tesla CEO Elon Musk hopes to sell in China.
Youxia plans to launch its X sedan in 3 flavors, allowing buyers to select to select either 40, 60 or 85 kilowatt-hour batteries. With a 360 HP electric motor driving the wheels, the makers of the Youxia X claim it’ll be able to go from
0-62 MPH 0-100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds with a driving range of up to 285 miles (in the 85 kWh model).
The company behind the Youxia X seems well-funded, if reports from Car News China are to be believed, and they think that their attractive and sporty sedan will have what it takes to push back Tesla’s American Invasion Force. In the even that the X can’t take on the Model S on merit, however, its makers have enabled its front bumper to display graphics ranging from the back-and-forth red lights so familiar to Knight-Rider fans to the emojis that their kids use to communicate with each other.
