Morgan Three-Wheeler Goes Electric For Goodwood

If I were a bit more eccentric and had a bit more money to throw around, I’d almost certainly own a Morgan Three-Wheeler. The Morgan Three-Wheeler autocycle is driving at its purest and most addictive, and it’s about to get even better with an all-electric version slated to debut at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Morgan is keeping a lot of the tech details about the EV3 under wraps for now, but what they’ve revealed so far sounds promising. A 101 horsepower electric motor makes about 20 ponies more than the standard 2.0 liter V-twin combustion engine, and despite coming in at just under 1,000 pounds in weight (10% lighter than the combustion version) Morgan is claiming a driving range per-charge of about 150 miles.

Now obviously, you make some sacrifices for all that range, such as a lack of roof or basic safety features beyond seatbelts. But with the instant torque of electric motors, acceleration should be brisk and driving pleasure immeasurable. It’ll also probably cost as much as a base Tesla Model S, but it’s one of the few electric vehicles that might actually garner more attention than Elon Musk’s baby.
