SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo Is FCA’s First Hybrid Supercar

So far, Fiat-Chrysler has showed little motivation when it comes to hybrid or electric vehicles, canning the short-lived ENVI program and focusing more on diesels and design than innovative engines. But maybe that’s starting to change.

The SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo may only exist in the world of racing simulations, but the hybrid hypercar concept may indicate that FCA is finally ready to give electrification a go. The teaser video doesn’t give away much, but loads of active aero and a hybrid drivetrain are both key to this concept’s edginess.

Perhaps I’m reading too much into this, but I really hope this concept signals a greater shift towards electrification for FCA. The Italian-American automaker is falling farther behind with every month that passes, offering just a single plug-in car (the Fiat 500e) and not a single hybrid. The only official plan we have heard to remedy this problem is a plug-in Chrysler minivan, which could do well considering the total lack of competition.

But a hybrid sports car from the makers of Maserati and the Dodge Viper? That’s something to get excited about…even if it’s just a video game concept for now.
