Nissan e-NV200 Electric Van Converted Into A Mobile BBQ

It’s finally starting to feel like spring here in the Northeast, and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to roll out the ol’ grill and start BBQing me some delicious meats. Something I’ve always dreamed of though is a mobile BBQ vehicle, but something more environmentally friendly than your average pickup, and it seems like I’m not alone.

A Japanese crowdfunding website has launched a unique project using the all-electric Nissan e-NV200 van, which seeks to convert the zero-emissions vehicle into a zero-emissions mobile “Smart BBQ” grilling and party van. Rather than a propane grill, the e-NV200 smokehouse uses a 1,500 watt electric grill that includes a roasting rotisserie. But this mobile BBQ EV is more than just a fancy grill on wheels; to keep the bugs away there’s an ultrasonic insect repeller, a water mister keeps guests cool on hot days, and a full sink/waste disposal system ensures you’ve left nothing behind but footprints and tire tracks. My personal favorite feature is the karaoke machine, which I assume can play more than just tunes from the royalty-free song catalog.

The Nissan e-NV200 BBQ fan is seeking about 1 million yen, or just about $8,500, in order to bring this garden party to the public. A contribution of $250 gets you and a friend invited to one of the public events…though if you’d rather just have this van for yourself, you can lay out the approximately $200,000 (!!!) asking price.

I mean, I’m a big fan of electric cars and cooking outside, but at nearly twice the price of a Tesla P85D, even in my ultimate fantasy garage, I think I’d have to pass. I’d much rather have the Westfalia version of the e-NV200 instead.
