If there is one country in the world that has truly embraced electric cars as a national initiative, it’s Norway. The small Scandinavian nation isn’t just 100% renewably powered, it also has the highest percentage of electric car sales in the world.
In fact, EVs are the best-selling vehicles in Norway month after month, and the newest arrival to their cold shores is the Tesla Model S P85D, which recived its own launch event. Minor YouTube celeb and Tesla owner Bjørn Nyland took video of the whole thing, giving us an insider’s perspective on the privledged world of Model S ownership. This includes a smile-inducing test drive in the 691 horsepower P85D.
While Elon wasn’t on hand at this event, there were plenty of suits and test drives to go around. Nyland wasn’t shy about expressing his love for the “insane” level of acceleration in the P85D, and even the Donald Pleasence-looking character in the back seat eventually cracked a smile. With a 0 to 60 MPH time of just 3.1 seconds, how could you not?
This isn’t Nylands first Tesla video either, not by a long shot. He has documented his Model S ownership since pretty much day one, including his experience driving on Norway’s notoriously snowy roads, and what it looks like to fill up a Model S using a Supercharger. So even though you or I might not be able to afford a Tesla (yet), at least we can live vicariously through Nyland’s work. That’s almost as good as the real deal, right?
