Lamborghini Asterion Hybrid Coming To Paris?

Porsche is doing it, Ferrari is doing it, and now Lamborghini wants to get in on the hybrid supercar game.Autoblog.nl reports that the Lamborghini Asterion will roll out at the Paris Auto Show as a hybrid supercar to take on Ferrari and other electrifying brands.

The technology to build such a car is certainly there, as Lamborghini is part the Volkswagen Group, which includes Audi and its upcoming line of plug-in hybrid models. Besides the above teaser picture though, what is there to indicate that this new Lambo might be a hybrid?

Well for one there’s the tagline itself, which says “Once perfection is achieved, you can just double it.” That’s…an oddly confident statement, even for a supercar maker. What, exactly, are they doubling?

The there’s the name itself; Asterion is the name of the famous Cretan minotaur from Greek mythology, a half-man, half-bull. Lamborghini has long used bulls as their symbols and name inspiration, including the Aventador and Hurcan, but these have typically been trophy-winning real-life bulls, not mythical beasts. The name is a move in a different direction, and it could indicate that this isn’t your normal Lamborghini we’re dealing with here.
Lamborghini has been oddly silent on the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicle technology, letting other companies take the lead as it stuck with its tried-and-true supercar formula.

However, it’s become impossible to ignore the feeding frenzy hybrid supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and LaFerrari, and a Lamborghini hybrid is long overdue.
