Just as the rumors were saying, the 2015 Volvo XC90 has been graced with an R-Design package for buyers wanting to add an extra bit of sporty flair to their seven-passenger SUV. The changes are subtle, but enough to make it stand out in a parking lot full of the suburban elite.
The R-Design package adds a new front grille, lower front spoiler, tinted windows, and a new exhaust tip surround. 20-inch alloy wheels are standard, and Volvo will also offer up a set up 22-inch rims if you want to literally stand above the competition. The R-Design features carry on to the interior, which sporter perforated leather seats and sportier pedals, gear shifter, and for the driver there’s an exclusive leather-wrapped keyfob.
The R-Design package is one of three being offered by Volvo for the XC90, if you don’t include the already-sold-out First Edition. The Momentum package is described as “well contented”, while the top-level Inscription trim has (unspecified) features not found in either the R-Design or Momentum packages.
“In principle, we have replaced the previous top level with the Inscription and R-Design versions. Both of them feature an elevated content, carefully chosen to emphasize each of their distinctive individual personalities,” said Alain Visse, senior vice president.
Now we just have to wait for a Polestar version to turn up the power as well as the looks.
