Tesla Model S vs. Brammo Empulse At Laguna Seca

It’s Monday, which means another week or workin’ hard for “the Man” and dreaming of what we’d rather be doing. I’m not usually one to complain, as my gig is pretty sweet (all things considered), but watching AMA Racing Champion Eric Bostrom race his electric Brammo Empulse motorcycle against the Teslarati Tesla Model S makes me a wee bit envious.

And where better to race than the famous Laguna Seca race track, where the annual electric motorsports event RE:FUEL takes place. Famous for its corkscrew-like turn right before the finish line, Bostrom takes the time to comment on the quiet-but-quick acceleration of the all-electric drivetrains. Without giving away too much as to which vehicle crosses the finish line first, all I will say is the race is surprisingly quick and competitive between the Tesla and the Brammo, even compared with conventional sports cars. Keeping in mind that the Model S is a 4,700 pound luxury sedan and the Brammo Empulse is marketed as an affordable (but fun) electric cruiser, these two vehicles gobble up the corners of Laguna Seca like it ain’t no big thang.

So who’s your money on for getting around Laguna Seca quicker? The Tesla Model S with its big battery and powerful electric motors, or the lighter but less-powerful Brammo Empulse? Place your bets gentlemen, and then watch the video to find out the results.
