Honda revealed its new-for-2015 HR-V sport utility earlier this year – but they’re still calling that car a “concept“, playing coy about what features will and won’t make it into production. The company is singing a different tune in China, however, and just revealed the Chinese-spec production version of the 2015 Honda HR-V at the Chengdu Motor Show.
Called the XR-V in China, the Honda Fit-based SUV “was designed to fill the space that the original CR-V did,” according to Steve Kinkade, the National Media Relations Manager at Honda North America, who I spoke to about the little SUV last week, in Michigan.
In XR-V trim, the upcoming Honda HR-V features an angrier, more aggressive “mouth” up front and sportier wheel and tire combination that what we’ve seen in the US, so far. That could mean nothing (Chinese-market cars tend to feature more “Power Ranger” styling cues than US and European tastes might allow), or it could mean that these bits will find their way onto an HR-V Si model. Or, you know, a slammed one-off at a Fuddruckers’ car night.
Until we see an official US version of the Honda HR-V, though, the Chinese XR-V is as good a look as you’re going to get. You can see a few pictures, below, and see the rest of the photo gallery by clicking the Indian Autos Blog source link at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!
