Toyota FT-1 Shown With Graphite Paint, Virtual Version

Though it debuted in Detroit painted a stunning shade of red, the Toyota FT-1 hybrid supercar has been updated with a graphite silver look, as well as a virtual racing version for Gran Turismo 6, making its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Revealed at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, the Toyota FT-1 has rekindled hopes that Toyota is going to bring back the Supra for the 21st century. Only this time around, it will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain, and possibly co-developed with BMW. The graphite version that debuted at Pebble Beach is less racy, and more refined for the audience of well-heeled car connoisseurs that you’ll find at any Concours event. Tan leather and natural metal elements replace the red-and-black race seating that broke cover in Detroit

Meanwhile Gran Turismo 6 added to its ever-growing stable of virtual concept cars with the Toyota FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo, which gets wider fenders and other race-inspired features that you’d expect to see on a track. Toyota seems serious about getting back into the supercar game, and with the Lexus LFA already starting to look long in the tooth, it’s time the maker of Prius flex its hybrid muscles.

Looks like Toyota is about to do just that.
