Next weekend the world’s most prestigious automakers will gather at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to show off some of the classiest and most-expensive vehicles ever conceived. Among them will be a one-of-a-kind BMW i8 to help the German brand with the US launch of its plug-in supercar.
The BMW i8 Concours d’Elegance Edition will be sold at auction by Gooding & Company, the official Concours auction house, and you’d better believe that BMW fans will be digging deep into their pockets for this one.
After all, a standard, plain jane BMW i8 starts off at more than $126,000, though options can bring it over the $146,000 mark when all is said and done. So what makes the Concours d’Elegance Edition so special?
In addition to being a top-of-the-line Tera trim, this special i8 gets the Individual Frozen Grey Metallic exterior color and Dalbergia Brown leather interior upholstery with blue-accented BMW i stitching. “Concours d’Elegance” will also be etched into the interior, and whoever buys the unique Bimmer will be able to claim a number of US firsts, including the first car with laser headlights, special Louis Vuitton language meant to fit into the small trunk area, and the first BMW i DC Fast Charger.
Eventually, I’m hoping an even-faster BMW i9 is in the works… but let’s get the US rollout of the i8 figured out first, yeah? How much do you think this special edition BMW i8 will sell for at auction next weekend?
