The current Hyundai Tucson crossover/SUV thing doesn’t exactly occupy a warm, happy place in my heart. That said, it is the basis for Hyundai’s expensive hydrogen fuel cell push – as such, it is not only relevant to my interests, but probably should be to yours, as well (being, I assume, someone who breathes air). It’ll be interesting to see, then, what the 2015 redesign of the popular SUV has in store for Walking Dead fans and clean tech enthusiasts, alike – but we won’t have to wait for the next round of auto shows. WorldCarFans recently snapped a few pictures of a development mule testing in the desert, and it looks really angry!
Granted, “angry” is a lot better than the carp-face the current Hyundai Tucson seems to have, so I’ll call that a win. Additionally, the Tucson seems to be taking its styling cues from its larger, more successful brother, the Santa Fe. That’s a good thing, and speaks to a Hyundai that’s gone from “me-too” styling to a company that’s confident in its own look and styling team. Additionally, we can expect some familiar performance from the new car, as the current engine lineup will likely be carried over. As such, expect to find 2.0 and 2.4 GDI units under the hood, with both being offered with standard FWD or optional AWD.
You can check out a few “spy” pics of the upcoming 2015 Hyundai Tucson, below, along with a 2013/14 Santa Fe for comparison. If you want more, head on over to WorldCarFans’ original post for a few more that really show show off the new car’s Santa Fe-inspired styling. Enjoy!
