Sponsored by Prairie Gold Solar, ARCA driver, Lucky Jeans model, and environmental activist Leilani Munter will take her renewable energy message to policy makers in Washington, DC, and to race fans at Chicagoland Speedway when she slips behind the wheel of the Prairie Gold Solar Toyota Camry racecar.
Leilani Munter’s drive will drive a Tesla Model S across seven states on her “Electric Route to the Racetrack”, which looks like this …
… and which will also play host to two meet-ups. The first was in Bethesda, Maryland, and the second will take place later this week in Chicago. In addition, she’s inviting fans to join her at each Tesla Supercharger stop along her route.
Once her journey is complete, Leilani Munter will become the first ARCA or NASCAR driver to travel to a race completely oil free. “Getting off oil by driving electric cars and using solar to power the electric grid helps America reduce our dependence on foreign oil and secure our energy independence,” says Munter, in an environmentally-positive message crafted perfectly for the Tea Party set that makes up NASCAR’s stereotypical audience. “That’s a win-win for the environment and national security.”
Munter is coming off momentum from her latest ARCA at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on May 3 where she ran as high as fourth and kept her #55 Blackfish race car in the top eight spots leading up to the final restart, finishing 14th. This will be Leilani Munter’s first ARCA race at Chicagoland Speedway, and the race will air live on FOX Sports 2 starting at 6:00 PM (EST) on July 19, with live timing and scoring available at the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online.
