After a high-speed chase at triple-digit speeds, a stolen Tesla Model S crashed into a synagogue, split in half, and burst into flames. Really.
The crash happened near Los Angeles, and left behind a debris field that covered North La Brea Avenue in expensive Tesla bits early on July 4. At least four people were taken to a neighborhood hospital, and several other vehicles were destroyed or damaged. The stolen Tesla Model S, of course, was totaled.
The driver of the stolen Tesla is in critical condition after being ejected from the fiery crash. Of the other four who were taken from the scene, two were listed as being in “serious” condition, and one other individual in “critical”.
No, I don’t know about you guys, but crashing into a building at 100 MPH in car that rips itself in half before bursting into flames seems like a pretty solid way to die … but it’s a testament to the Tesla Model S’ high level of built-in safety that the driver lived. I think.
What do you guys think? Is this a “Wow, look how safe Teslas are?” story, or a “ZOMG! Fire! Fire!” story? Watch the video of the crash’s aftermath, then let us know what you think in the comments section, below. Enjoy!
