In just over a month, Monster Tajima will return to Pikes Peak in his bid for electric vehicle dominance. But first, he’s got to get ready for this epic race. Check him out testing his electric race car around the track and talking about why he made the switch from combustion to electric vehicles.
Tajima has been somewhat obsessed with Pikes Peak since he was seven years old, and the 63-year old has won his class on Pikes Peak ten times including last year’s record-setting EV class win. But like any good professional racer, he is always looking to add another notch to his belt. This year Tajima will celebrate his 64th birthday on the day before race day, but for him the change to electric vehicles is about more than just going faster and winning races.
You need look no farther than Pikes Peak for evidence that climate change is happening, as the perennial snows of the famous mountain are beginning to melt. Tajima aims to prove that electric vehicles are better, both for racing and the health of the world.
