Want to ride along in a world record in a cutting-edge race car? Well you can’t. But you can watch this video of the Hammerdown electric dragster zooming to a 7.94 @ 159 MPH in the quarter mile, a new world record for electric drag racing…though one that might be broken soon.
With Kristen Stacy at the wheel, the Lawless Hammerdown dragster zoomed down the quarter-mile in just 7.94 seconds at a top speed of 159 MPH, making it the quickest electric dragster in the world, at least officially. Unofficially, Big Daddy Don Garlits topped out his electric dragster at 184 MPH, but couldn’t back it up with a second run.
Meanwhile, nobody has yet to break 200 MPH in the quarter-mile, meaning the big prize (a place in the history books) is still up for grabs. At the rate they’re going, by the end of summer, we should have a few new records to boast about in the EV world. Who are you cheering for?
