Alfa Romeo has a rich history and enthusiastic fan base throughout the world- and in America, as well, despite the fact that Alfa hasn’t been a real player in the US for years. Now, however, Alfa Romeo is back- and the company’s mid-engined Alfa 4c sports car is leading the charge at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
Powered by an ultra-efficient, 240 HP turbocharged Fiat engine that makes use of “advanced scavenging technology” that “maximizes torque at low engine speeds and delivers more power in response to driver input … by improving the scavenging of the combustion chamber, this direct flow increases combustion efficiency and turbine speed and reduces turbo-lag,” the Alfa Romeo 4c is a zippy performer.
The new 4c is even zippier thanks to the stiffness inherent in its advanced, lightweight, carbon-fiber chassis. It’s the kind of weight-saving tech normally found in Formula 1 and IndyCar– or million-dollar hyper cars– but the Alfa is expected to start at an “affordable” $54,000. Still, this isn’t a car review- it’s a photo gallery. So, feast your eyes on the new for 2014 Alfa Romeo 4c- which you’ll be able to buy here in the US real, real soon.
