Deep Dive: Chevy's Twin-turbo IndyCar V6 for 2014

This weekend marks the start of the 2014 IndyCar series at the Firestone IndyCar Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and the return of Juan Pablo Montoya to North America’s premier open-wheel race series. As the world’s fastest owner of both a Tesla Model S and Chevy Volt, we’re Montoya fans of the highest order here at Gas 2, and we expect great things from the ex Indy, Formula 1, and NASCAR championship contender- who will be piloting a 675 hp Chevy-powered Penske throughout the IndyCar 2014 season.

I reached out to Chevrolet a few weeks ago about that new V6, and they were good enough to send over a breakdown of their twin-turbocharged, 2.2 liter, ethanol-powered IndyCar 2014 challenger. You can see the specs, here …

… and get a sense of what the Chevrolet V6 race engine will look like (both in and out of the car) in the photo gallery, below. And, while we’re not supposed to take sides as journalists, here’s hoping Montoya uses it to wipe the floor with everyone else. Enjoy!
