Tesla delivered on its promise to sell a $50,000 EV, and then promptly cancelled production of the 40 kWh Model S, and followed that with a $2,500 price increase for the remaining variants. Nobody would ever accuse the Tesla Model S electric luxury sedan of being cheap, with a leather interior, custom touchscreen interface, and pricing starting at over $57,000 before generous government incentives. If you go all out, you can easily spend over $90,000 on a Model S EV. For those few who can still afford such an opulent automobile, the price is about to get just a little heftier.
