Audi chose the Shanghai auto show to reveal its E-Tron Sportback concept that is coming to market in 2019. It will have nearly 500 horsepower, a range of 500 kilometers, and liquid cooled 95 kWh battery.

While discussing the release next year of the company's all-electric e-Tron SUV, a top Audi exec (Dietmar Voggenreiter, sales and marketing boss) commented that the model will represent “the first real premium manufacturer doing a premium electric SUV." I guess that the Tesla Model X doesn't count? Or is just that Tesla isn't a "real premium manufacturer?"

At the 24 Hours of LeMans races, there are various different types of prototype vehicles, including diesel and hybrid-electric ones. The Le Mans-winning Audi R18 e-tron Quattro is shown here during testing at the Monza race track, reaching speeds of up to 210 mph! It exhibits a highly unique sound resembling that of a jet engine and uses a KERS hybrid system to beat out the competition. It is also loud (for those which enjoy that)
