eRoadRacing Indianapolis Race | A Field of Winners

August 18th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

Unlike the Laguna Seca round, all bikes that started were able to complete this race. Shane Turpin was fastest from start to finish, leading on every lap. No matter how he hard he tried, Bostrom could not get much closer than a few seconds behind Turpin. They're on equal machines, ~$200,000 Brammo RR factory prototypes, simply the fastest, most powerful machines out there this weekend. Coming up in third place was Kenyon Kluge, with a gap that started at about 45 seconds after the first lap and grew with each lap until he finished 2 minutes 11 seconds behind leader Shane Turpin

eRoadRacing Qualifying Practice | Indianapolis Motor Speedway

August 18th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

In case you're wondering why we're not covering the German round of eRoadRacing also being held this weekend, well, there's only so many live events we can cover at once. At least until we get a European correspondent. In the meantime, you can read all the news on eRoadRacing.com. Last night the Indy crew held their qualifying session, right after race one of the Vance & Hines XR1200 race in which Shelina Moreda was also competing. I interviewed her after qualifying to find out what that was like

eRoadRacing Free Practice at IMS | A Learning Experience

August 17th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

In Friday’s first practice of the weekend, eight of the FIM eRoadRacing bikes finished, but newcomer Cesar Gonzales had an electrical fault which kept him from finishing on his electrified “Hornet 1”. Here are statements from most of the riders after their first practice, including this one from Be-EV & Hollywood Electrics racer Jeremiah Johnson

eRoadRacing USA Race Results, Round 1: An Unexpected Podium

July 21st, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

Round 1 of the US eRoadRacing series is on the books. Both Eric Bostrom and Shane Turpin were able to best Steve Rapp's track record of 1.33.194 from 2011, an impressive feat considering how much cheaper a Brammo RR is than the near $300,ooo MotoCzysz had spent developing their superbike up to that point. Bostrom's fastest lap in the race was 1.33:012 and Turpin scored the new track record with a 1.32:581 in lap 5, right before his bike gave out

eRoadRacing Qualifying Practice | Laguna Seca 2013

July 20th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

Tonight's qualifying practice showed marked improvements for all eRoadRacing competitors, especially Electric Cowboy Racing's Brandon Miller who gained 10 seconds over yesterday's practice. Here are the timing sheets for your analysis. As you can see, the entire field improved dramatically. The sessions both went smoothly, with no crashes.

It's an All-Visual, All-Production Experience Here At Laguna Seca

July 19th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

First practice for the first US round of the 2013 FIM eRoadRacing championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is on the books. Shane Turpin and Eric Bostrom started quick and led throughout first practice on the Brammo Empulse TTX bikes, staying in the 1:34's throughout practice. Ted Rich and Shelina Moreda dice it out for 3rd in the 1:51's throughout practice. The gap from their modified Brammos to the stock Brammos and all zeroes is significant. Partly due to the fact that their bikes are up on power by x horses, and rider experience in the case of some of the modified Zeroes.

Mission Motorcycles- Now At Select Dealers

July 15th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

Mission Motorcycles are rolling out their R and RS models to select dealerships. The new bikes were introduced on June 3rd, and covered here. Coincidentally, it's the same day as the TT Zero at Isle of Man, a race Mission once competed in. I attended their launch at Pro Italia in Glendale, CA on Friday night. The motorcycles were gorgeous, but of course their true beauty can only be displayed when you feel that 125 ft lbs of torque thrusting you back as the front wheel aims for the sky. Shod with rubber sticky enough to handle all that torque and 162 ponies, it's a recipe for endless joy

Video: On-Board With Rutter And McGuinness At The TT Zero

June 11th, 2013 | by Christopher DeMorro

Last week Michael Rutter and John McGuinness battled to be the fastest electric motorcycle drivers at the Isle of Man TT Zero. Ultimately Rutter beat out McGuinness by less than two seconds, giving you an idea of just how close this race was from start to finish. And now we have the on-board footage from this daringly quiet motorcycle race

Motoczysz Beats Mugen In Dramatic TT Zero Finish

June 6th, 2013 | by Christopher DeMorro

In true David vs. Goliath fashion, Michael Rutter defeated John McGuinness at today’s epic TT Zero finale, with the two electric motorcycle racing giants squaring off in a race for the record books. Less than two seconds separated the racers, but in racing, that is all it takes

Michael Czysz Forced to Miss 2013 SES TT Zero

May 15th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

I don't want to write this, but with Cancer, the more people who know, the more a person can get prayers and healing thoughts sent their way. Which can often be more powerful than chemotherapy, actually. Michael Czysz, CEO, founder and genius behind the curtain at MotoCzysz, will have to miss the 2013 TT to undergo cancer treatment. The TT isn't something one just misses because they have the sniffles

Mission Motors Teases Street Legal Electric Motorcycle

May 10th, 2013 | by Christopher DeMorro

The saga of Mission Motors is a tale of broken promises and renewed hope for a company that once promised to deliver one hell of an electric motorcycle. After a significant change in business strategies though, the Mission One was dead on the drawing board...or so we thought. But a new teaser from Mission promises the “fastest street-legal electric motorcycle ever made.” Bold words. Can we trust them

Inside the Magic Factory of MotoCzysz

May 4th, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

Last week, I was granted a rare visit to MotoCzysz headquarters in Portland, OR. I met with their General Manager Ray Crepeau, to discuss where the company is at both commercially and in racing for the 2013 season. Last week they announced their 2013 rider lineup, making it clear that they would like to race the full US season of the eRoadRacing series but for now are targeting IOM TT Zero and the Laguna Seca round of eRoadRacing. I got to see Michael’s father and lead mechanic Terry Czysz hard at work on one bike while lead engineer Nick Schoeps took a moment to stop measuring the other bike’s power delivery on the dyno to answer my questions

May 1st, 2013 | by Susanna Schick

MotoCzysz has announced their lineup for the 2013 season, signaling their intent to move beyond the Isle of Man this year and campaign a full season. This is great news for FIM eRoadRace fans. The serie formerly known as TTXGP and FIM ePower has united, making it easier to fill the grids with truly competitive bikes
