DeltaWing Details Plans For GT Racer, Road Car

Remember Ben Bowlby’s DeltaWing racer? It promised to use half the horsepower, half the fuel, and half the tires as conventional race cars, without sacrificing any speed. Surprisingly, it sorta worked, at least well enough for Nissan to poach Bowlby and begin their own racing program around a strikingly-similar design. Meanwhile, the DeltaWing team has […]

DeltaWing Gets More Power, A Roof, But Loses Sponsors

We’re big fans of the DeltaWing, a race car that stands to change the way we approach racing for decades to come. With its unique design and emphasis on efficiency, the DeltaWing sacrifices nothing when it comes to power or speed. In case you can’t tell, the Nissan DeltaWing is one of my favorite cars to write about. The idea of racing with an emphasis on efficiency appeals on every level to my love of fast-yet-fuel-efficient cars. So you can imagine how happy I was to read that the sanctioning body for the American Le Mans Series has approved the Nissan DeltaWing to compete for points in the 2013 season.

Video: Onboard The Wild Nissan DeltaWing

The Nissan DeltaWing represents a new frontier in the world of racing, using half the power, half the tires, and half the fuel of traditional race cars, while sacrificing nothing in terms of performance.

Don’t believe me? Just watch this video from on-board the DeltaWing while it does some hot laps at Road Atlanta…and you too will become a believer.

Video: Revolutionary Nissan DeltaWing Returns To Track For Season Finale

Of all the exciting alternative fuel vehicles I cover for Gas2, none are as awesome as the Nissan DeltaWing. As a race car with half the weight, half the power, and half the fuel consumption with equivalent levels of performance, the DeltaWing is nothing short of a race car revolution. Now comes news that the DeltaWing will return for the last race of the World Endurance Championship Petit Le Mans contest.
