Hey, Can We Take it For a Ride?
You’ve no doubt wondered how a $500,000, 420bhp sportscar would run, right? I mean after all, what would it be like to go from 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds?
That’s what 44 year old Martin Holz and Friedrich Voller, 53, had in mind when they asked a car dealer in Moenchengladbach, Germany if they could take it for a spin. The car, built as a prototype by the Vemot AG company, was on display and just too much of a temptation.

So the two strapped themselves in, put the pedal to the metal and the mighty V-8 roared into action. Within minutes, the car went out of control and destroyed a lamppost, and pretty much of the car. The two drivers escaped injury and tried to take off on a dead run, only to be captured by police at the scene.
The car, now pretty badly mangled, was towed back to the garage where mechanics will try to salvage what they can. In a moment of understatement, a police spokesman was quoted as saying, “The car is immensely powerful and the grossly overestimated their driving skills.” No word yet on what the owner of the dealer ship had to say, but you can probably guess.
The moral of this story? Clint Eastwood may have said it best: “A man has got to know his limits.”
The company plans to manufacture only 50 of the cars each year to satisfy a niche market for powerful supercars.
