Nissan Shows Off New Zero Emission Electric Car Technology
Posted in:
Nissan has unveiled the technology platform of its eagerly anticipated all-electric car, scheduled to be revealed next Sunday prior to going on sale in Japan and the US in next year.
The new kit was debuted on a Tiida-based prototype, which features an in-house developed electric motor capable of delivering 107bhp and 206lb ft of torque. Power is supplied by a 24kWh laminated compact li-ion battery situated beneath the car’s floor so it doesn’t interefere with cabin or cargo space.

Regenerative braking technology recharges the battery during deceleration and braking, assisting the car in achieving a credible range of just shy of 100 miles on a full charge. Drivers will be able check up on remaining charge levels via the sat-nav, which also displays the locations of nearby charging stations.
When required, a timer can also be set to kickstart charging overnight so that users benefit from cheaper electricity.
Drivers can also control charging and control the air-con via the internet or a mobile phone.
After hitting Japan and the US in 2010, the new model is then expected to go on sale in the UK in 2011, with roll-out worldwide in 2012.
