Panoz Reveals 74 MPG Deltawing Production Road Car

When Panoz first showed off design renderings back in 2014, we called them hideous and said they ruined the clean, dart-like proportions of Ben Bowlby’s original design. We were 100% right, of course — but seeing the Panoz production car’s final design in the form of the slick blue beastie you see, above? I have to admit: It’s not bad!

The mechanical layout and crash structure of the Panoz Deltawing were revealed earlier this year in virtual form, but the semi-transparent bodywork shown at the time didn’t do justice to the final shape. A final shape, by the way, that’s said to be slippery enough to drive 74 miles on a single gallon of gas.

Beyond this new, full-scale styling buck there isn’t much in the way of totally new Deltawing information to discuss. There will definitely be more news trickling out over the winter, though, as the team and its drivers prepare for the 2016 season. Expect the final production version of the car — interior and all! — to make its debut next year, either at a major auto show or (more likely) at the 2016 Petit LeMans. Until then, you can let us know what you think of Panoz’ latest road car coming out “in the flesh” in the comments section at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

Hey, where’s the batte… oh, right.

    • An electric version is planned, along with this version that promises super car acceleration and hybrid-busting fuel economy.

Careful with that word, “production”. When they only produce a dozen, if even that… like so many other potential automakers before, you might confuse people about the meaning of “production”.

    • It’d be a dozen more than Elio produced, and those clowns are on Motley Fool and CNN!

If this car is released in Australia the Cane Toads won’t have a chance.
