Volvo V60 PHEV Gets Polestar Performance Upgrades

True to their word, the Volvo specialists of Polestar are preparing a number of performance upgrades for the Volvo V60 PHEV. The enhancements focus on the diesel-hybrid drivetrain, boosting power enough to make it the most powerful diesel Volvo ever.

It didn’t take much to get it there though, as Polestar added just 15 horsepower and 22 lb-ft of torque to the 2.2 liter diesel engine, giving the Polestar V60 D6 PHEV a total output of 298 horsepower and a whopping 494 lb-ft of torque. From a Volvo…diesel…hybrid…station wagon.

The additional power shaves .2 seconds off of the V60’s 0 to 62 MPH time, bringing it to an even six-seconds and solidifying its place as the fastest Volvo in the Swedish brand’s lineup. Compared to Saab, which is facing bankruptcy yet again, Volvo has managed to bounce back from the brink to deliver some genuinely praiseworthy cars, while advancing next-generation drivetrains and even autonomous car technology.

The Polestar Volvo V60 PHEV maintains both its fuel economy figures and factory warranty, and you can even add on the racier R-Design package to complete the look and feel of your overpowered grocery getter. Is there a more perfect family car for a green gearhead? Perhaps only the Tesla Model S, and that’s certainly a discussion worth debate.

So what’s it going to take to get Volvo to sell the V60 PHEV in here in America?
