The Rimac Concept_One electric supercar boasts nearly 1,100 horsepower, and now a place on the Formula E racetrack. The Concept_One will be used by the Formula E Race Director to conduct on-track inspections, as well as giving passengers a front-seat ride in the million-dollar electric supercar.
Since 2009, Rimac Automobili has been developing cutting-edge EV technology with an eye towards providing niche manufacturers with high-performance electric drivetrains. Rimac has also built what they claim is the world’s quickest electric car already, and the Concept_One boasts 1,088 horsepower sent to all four wheels through Rimac’s All-Wheel Torque Vectoring system.
The Concept_One will also be used to give visitors passenger laps the various Formula E tracks, which will zip around international landmarks like the Beijing Bird’s Nest Olympic stadium and London’s Battersea Park. That’s thanks in large part to the quiet nature of electric motors, which enable race tracks to be placed in areas not normally welcoming to loud and brash motorsports events. It also gives the Concept_One, which goes on sale next year, a lot of prime exposure.
So yeah, look for me at the front of the line trying to get a ride in the Rimac Concept_One. It’s not everyday you see an electric supercar, after all.
