Video: Porsche Loses Le Mans With Class

After more than a decade absence, Porsche returned to the Circuit de la Sarthe for the 2014 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Their weapon was the all-new Porsche 919 Hybrid race car, and even though they led the LMP1 class for 22 of the 24 hour race, they ultimately conceded first place to Audi, which earned its 13th Le Mans win this year.

Rather than sulk away from the field of battle though, Porsche produced this short video to salute Audi’s victory…along with a promise to return, faster and better prepared for next year. It’s another shot in a rivalry that has seen the two trade blows over social media and YouTube on a weekly basis leading up to Le Mans.

It’s classy, it’s quick, and it’s totally Porsche. There’s no shame in defeat, after all, only in giving up. Here’s hoping Porsche brings the pain to Audi in 2015.
