The face of this weekend’s 24 Hours of LeMans 2014 changed rapidly about an hour ago when the no. 8 Toyota TS 040 Hybrid crashed into the no. 3 Audi R18 e-tron Quattro during a wet session in the early hours of the historic race.
The no. 7 Toyota – which started from 3rd on the grid, sandwiched between the lighter, less-powerful Porsche 919 Hybrid racers – seems to have been at fault in the accident, which also collected the no. 81 Ferrari 458 Italia that was running well in the GTE class before “finishing off” the Audi.
