IMSA 2014: Chevy Sportscar Classic at Belle Isle – Race Results

IMSA Corvette DP Tudor USCC

From the moment the 2014 Chevy Sportscar Classic at Belle Isle (read: Detroit) started, it was obvious a Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype was going to win – it just wasn’t obvious which one!

Ricky and Jordan Taylor sprinted to the overall victory earlier today, finishing just ahead of the pole-winning Westbrook / Valiente-driven Corvette DP and the Oak Racing Nissan Morgan, which looked pretty impressive against the HPD/Honda ARX-03b Tequila Patrón cars in the opening laps.

Once again, the IMSA / Tudor United SportsCar Championship series’ emphasis on efficiency and average speed trumped outright velocity. That’s most evident looking at the Daytona 24 Hour-winning Corvette DP of Barbosa and Fittipaldi, which scored a fastest lap a few tenths quicker than the eventual winners, but ended up 6th after a wild, last-lap battle for the lead saw them cut a tire before limping home.

You can see how the rest of the race played out, below, and head on over to IMSA’s recap page for more driver interviews and photos. Enjoy!
