Mazda SkyActiv Diesel Prototype
Mazda’s SkyActiv diesels have been under-performing this year, but there’s no denying the fast pace of the team’s development and the chunks they’ve already taken out of the gap between themselves and the much more powerful Daytona Prototype Corvettes that dominated Daytona a few months ago. This is racing to improve the breed, and the better Mazda does in IMSA the more likely we are to get a sexy, slinky Mazda 6 diesel wagon Stateside.
Liam Dwyer and Wounded Warrior Racing
SSgt. Liam Dwyer is a wounded warrior who has a history in racing. He’s driving three events with Freedom Autosport in 2014, and the IMSA support race at Laguna Seca was the first. His left leg was amputated and he has limited use of his other appendages, but he’s still a capable racer, co-driving with IMSA prototype driver Tom Long.
25 Years of Mazda Miata vs. Laguna Seca
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Mazda Miata’s debut at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show- and this automotive icon, which has inspired more people to go racing, perhaps, than any car before it- got a proper birthday bash at Mazda Raceway. Here are a few of the best pictures from Mazda’s Facebook album to peruse while you wait for the 2015 version. Enjoy!
