Dogecoin NASCAR Livery Chosen, Much Black
From impossible dream to oh-my-god-this-is-actually-happening, the dogecoin sponsored NASCAR has settled on a very wow livery that will debut in Talladega. And yes, the doge face will be prominently displayed on the hood of the car. What a magical age we live in.
The chosen livery was voted on by the dogecoin community, who were then given three color schemes to pick from; gold, silver, and black. I voted for black, as did more than 57% of the other voters, leading to a landslide victory.
A quick recap for those not in the know; NASCAR driver Josh Wise lacked a sponsor for the upcoming race on May 4th at Talladega Motor Speedway. Dogecoin, a virtual cryptocurrency designed to be fun-yet-serious, in the spirit of the doge meme (much popular, so wow), had earlier in the year raised $13,000 to send the Jamaican bobsled team to the Sochi Olympics.
This time around, dogecoin raised $55,000 to be the primary sponsor on Wise’s No. 98 Ford Fusion stock car at one of the biggest races of the year. I hope we have a chance to see the look on Jeff Gordon’s face as a giant shiba inu face chases him down the speedway.
As hard as it is to take dogecoin seriously, it’s getting harder not to take them seriously. Sure, you can sort of kinda of buy a Tesla Model S with Bitcoins, but come May 4th, tens of millions of NASCAR fans will be introduced to dogecoin. If you missed the boat on the Tesla IPO, this might be your second chance to invest in a hot tech…commodity…currency…thing.
