Volkswagen introduced the 260+ mpg Volkswagen XL1 hybrid supercar to the American press last week at the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While we’ve covered VW’s genre-defying XL1 in the past (and even enjoyed a vicarious Volkswagen XL1 test drive), this is the car’s first time on US shores in production form. Unfortunately, it may also be the car’s last appearance on US shores – at least, in this form.

    Once the actual mileage is “discovered” less than advertised then the VW XL1 will be, as the raven said, never more.

      Not likely to happen- the well-off few who are buying are enthusiasts, and like those who bought the original Honda Insight, they will be able to extract amazing mileage from this car.
