2014 Chevy Volt Production Begins July 15th With Two New Colors
General Motors has recently announced that on July 15 the first 2014 Chevrolet Volt will roll off the assembly line in the GM Hamtramck factory, located in Michigan. Last year, Chevrolet made some significant changes to the 2013 Volt, like a larger capacity battery pack, longer all-electric range, and a system to allow drivers to choose when their Volt would run on electric or gasoline power.
This year, however, for the 2014 Chevy Volt, there’s not much in the way of changes or improvements. Everything will remain pretty much remain the same except for a couple of new paint options, some revisions on the interior trim, and a change to the car’s charge port door.
The two new dark colors for the 2014 Volt are the “Ashen Gray Metallic” and the “Brownstone Metallic.” The Ashen Grey is a color that has been available on other GM vehicles but is new to the Volt. The Brownstone is a new color that has not been previously used by GM. The brownstone should look pretty good in the daylight by looking at the photos of the new color.
Another standard feature that was added to the 2014 Chevy Volt is a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Customers will no longer be ableto get the two-tone seat combination of black with white accents, but heated seats are an option on cloth interiors and standard on premium trim.
One of the more significant improvements for the 2014 Chevy Volt is that the charge port door will be replaced with a simple push-push latch, instead of the electronically actuated door release, which has been a minor issue with many Volt owners who would have preferred the simple push latch on the previous models.
With all the minor changes, it is doubtful that the sticker price will change much from last year’s model. With little significant changes, it could also drive the cost down on the 2012 and 2013 models for those who might be looking for a bargain.
