Porsche Recognized For Green Tech

Stuttgart’s new Green Party mayor, Fritz Kuhn, recently paid a visit to Porsche’s manufacturing facility in Germany, where he praised the company’s recent efforts to bring clean diesels and innovative hybrids to market.

Porsche proudly noted that Mayor Kuhn came by to visit Porsche within days of his inauguration. According to the Truth About Cars’ writer (and auto-industry veteran) Bertel Schmitt, the mayor “was probably expected with trepidation. When the Green politician Jurgen Trittin came to visit Volkswagen back when Trittin was Federal Minister of the Environment, everybody was very nervous. I know, I had to write the welcome speech, and it was changed many times.”

It’s good to see Porsche getting recognized for its efforts, which will soon culminate in the new 918 Spyder super car and a new season of GT3 hybrid racers. Maybe this year they’ll be able to avoid crashing out my favorite racecar at Petit LeMans.

About Jo Borras

I've been working in motorsports and tuning since 1997, with some the biggest names in the business. In 2008, the work we did on a hybrid/EV concept car attracted the attention of Gas 2 editors, and they invited me to join the team. I couldn't resist!

I agree. I’ve never owned or driven a Porsche, I’m sorry to say. But I’ve always admired Porsche for their styling, and their engineering,
