Gas2 Helps Electric Cowboy Set New Electric Motorcycle World Record
The goal of setting a world record is a secret fantasy many gearheadds harbor in the far reaches of their minds. But few ever step forward to claim those records, to stand, however briefly, with the racing elite.
Brandon Nozaki Miller, who calls himself the “Electric Cowboy,”, set a new world record for electric motorcycles under 150 kg. And we kinda sorta helped.
Last week, Brandon managed to set a new record of 101.652 mph over a one-mile run, and 102.281 kph over the kilometer. The runs were recognized by both the American Motorcycle Association and the International Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, respectively.
He did it on a heavily modified Zero S motorcycle called Foxie Cleopatra, doing much of the work himself but also turning to Hollywood Electrics for some help. The modifications allowed him to raise the top speed of his Zero S from 88 mph to over 100. Turns out these little electric bikes pack quite the punch!
Brandon first wrote an article for Gas2 about his experience at electric racing event REFUEL. Later, Brandon approached me about writing an article to pump up his attempt to set a new electric motorcycle record. How could we turn him down? We knew he could do it, and turns out we were right.
Gas2 even went so far as to donate $100 to Brandon’s run, because honestly, this is the kind of green tech stuff that we love. We also wanna give a shoutout to any readers who also gave a few bucks to fund Brandon’s run. Brandon has already promised a follow-up post on his experience, but we just wanted to congratulate him…and ourselves on backing a man with a record-setting mindset.
