Croatian-Built Rimac Concept One Electric Supercar Might Actually Happen

CNN Money is reporting that production of the 1000 hp, million-dollar Rimac Concept One electric supercar is scheduled to begin soon. This information comes hot on the heels of other Rimac news reports stating that the car was shown at the Salon Privé, one of the most prestigious car shows in the UK.

The CNN video shows the Concept One doing eerily silent burnouts as Rimac owner Mate (“mah-tey”) Rimac explains his desire to break from tradition with his car. The AWD Concept One is powered by an electric motor situated on each wheel. The 4 motors combine to deliver up to 1088 hp, and a Freightlner-proud 2802 lb-ft of orbit-altering torque. Young Mate (seriously, how old is this kid!?) also claims that the batteries are good to travel over 350 miles.

I, for one, am shocked that this thing isn’t vaporware. What about you? Did you anticipate this particular bit of Rimac news, or did it catch you as surprised as it caught me? You can let us know, in the comments, and check out CNN’s full video, below.
