Honda + Mugen = Turbo V6 CR-Z Racer (video)

Saying that my love lust for Honda’s diminutive and sporty CR-Z hybrid is “well-documented” might be a bit of an understatement. Heck, I even burned some bridges at the Detroit News to “stand up” for the little car way back when! So, try imagine my surprise when, nearly 2 (two) years later, I find myself writing about Honda’s sportiest hybrid again … at the same cafe, in the same town, under vastly different circumstances!

Life is funny.

You know what else is probably funny? The look of surprise you’d probably see on the face of your typical [insert sporty Italian/German car brand here] driver’s face when one of these babies blasts past him and sucks his toupee off in its wake!

What you see here is the latest collaboration between Honda and Mugen. It’s based on Honda’s roadgoing CR-Z, but it’s taken sporty to levels that backyard/DIY tuners couldn’t dream of, packing a twin-turbo V6 engine somewhere between the axles and featuring some Seriously advanced hybrid tech to boot.

Expect the car to see competition later this year against the likes of Toyota’s Prius GT300 … which, let’s face it, has no chance against this Honda/Mugen beastie. Until then, the video below should give you all kinds of hybrid racing wood. Enjoy!
