No New Fail for BP Biofuels With New Sites in Brazil

Remember how BP decided to pass on its fines for not meeting its bioethanol sales quotas onto its customers? It raised prices at the pump so as not to cut into its profit margins. However, the oil giant has apparently taken the lesson to heart – BP just bought the biofuel firm Tropical BioEnergia S.A. in Brazil to the tune of $71 million (American).

Americans Set New Record For Highest Fuel Economy in Kia Optima Hybrid

It was recently reported that an Australian couple had set the new Guinness Book world record for highest fuel economy getting 64.42 miles per gallon (mpg) across the 48 connected American states. Well, that record has been broken by a pair of hypermilers who just completed the 48 state trip with a fuel economy of 64.55 mpg.

NOAA: Ship Emissions Reduced by Up To 90% Using Cleaner Fuel

In today’s “duh” study, we have a report from NOAA that says that huge container ships can reduce emissions of certain particulates, like sulfur dioxide, by as much as 90% by using cleaner types of fuel. But are the economics there?
