EV Goes 1000 Record-breaking Miles on a Single Charge (!)

Electric vehicles records are dropping like flies these days, as more and more vehicles push the boundaries of what’s possible for electric cars, boats, and planes. The latest to fall: the record for longest drive ever in a battery-powered vehicle (no recharge) was broken last weekend by a new, experimental electric vehicle called “Schluckspecht” (“heavy [...]
It Counts! Germans Get Incentives to Build Solar Carports

Cleantechnica is reporting that the scope of Germany’s current incentive programs to promote solar panel (and other green-tech) installations on existing structures includes existing carports, as well! It’s hoped that Germany’s legislation will lead to rapid adoption of green tech in the home, and that solar-roofed homes, carports, hangars, etc. will help further reduce the [...]

Converting London’s Black Cabs to EV’s Would Reduce Pollution by 20%

On the streets of London drive the Hackney Carriages, commonly called Black Cabs. They are everywhere in the ancient burg. A recent study done by EcoVelocity has come out saying that road transportation accounts for 80% of Central London’s pollution and that the Black Cabs alone contribute 20%. The study also reached the conclusion that if the 22,000 Black Cabs were to go electric London would be saved from close to 4,000 tons of CO2 emissions every week.
Thorium-Powered Car Could Drive a Million Miles Before Refueling

During the Atomic Age, it seemed as though there were no ceiling to the possibilities that atomic energy offered. From computers to homes to automobiles like the Ford Nucleon (above), engineers thought in integrating nuclear technology into every device conceivable. Well its happening again, as a Connecticut-based company has announced its intentions to build an EV powered by radioactive thorium.
