I love drag racing, and EV drag racing has been making waves the last few years as technology and gearheads catch up to the times. I’ve been following the saga of Ron Adamowicz and the Team Haiyin EV Camaro for a few months now, and they’ve just run their best time yet…a 10.08 @ 127 mph. Video inside.
Ron is a lifelong racing fan, and has put together a 1981 Camaro (along with Scriverner Performance) that can put down some damn impressive times. Currently, they are chasing the Black Currant EV Beetle for title of the World’s Fastest production car-based EV racer, which recently set the bar at 9.82 seconds down the quarter mile. That means there is less than three-tenths of a second separating these two vehicles. Ron’s Camaro looks like a much more complete car than the last time we saw it, and from the sounds of it they are really getting everything to work in-sync when it comes to drag racing.
I’ll be keeping an eye on them both, though we all know I’m rooting for the American-made Camaro.
