North Carolina Spawns Toyota Prius Hybrid Pickup

A sharp-eyed World Car Fans reader caught this home-built hybrid pickup in a North Carolina Ingles market parking lot.  Details are scarce, but I think it’s safe to assume that this is not Toyota’s official response to Ford’s upcoming hybrid F-350 chassis cab trucks or Chrysler’s now-defunct Dodge Ram plug-in.

What say you, readers?  Is this hybrid trucklet a poster child for the next “Say no to drugs.” campaign, is it the template for a modern-day El Camino Chevrolet must build, or is this 2nd-gen Prius just one DMV inspection away from the impound lot?  Let us know what you think in the comments, below.

I guess when you close the garage door and trash the back of the greenhouse, you can take it to a repair shop, or take matters into your own hands. Perhaps an El Primino wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all?

Maude could use it to rescue light/oxygen starved trees from the downtown environs in a greener way.

The first manufacturer to come back with a small truck like we used to have a selection from (Toyota, Datsun, Mazda remember those??) is going to make a killing! Make one that is an HEV or EV and affordable, it will be off the charts. I would love to have something like this for our sales people!!!
