Pulling Power from the Air Just. Got. Real.

electricity_air_main

We, as the crystal-petters will gladly tell you, are surrounded by energy.  I’m not talking about any kind of spiritual “soul” energy, here – but electromagnetic energy bouncing between cell phones, radio towers, GPS systems, wi-fi hotspots, and more.  Great gobs of electrical potential just “hanging out”, wasted … but no more. 2012 Nissan Leaf Price Jumps $2,420, Adds More Standard Features

costly

Electric vehicles are panned for being too little car for too much money. But while GM has shaved $1,000 from the Chevy Volt’s MSRP, Nissan has added over $2,400 to the price of its all-electric Leaf. The future ain’t cheap I suppose.

Catching up with MotoCzysz Racer Mark Miller

After watching Charge, I wanted to meet the man who had brought the MotoCzsys e1pc to victory in 2010 and second place (only behind Czysz’s newer model) in 2011. Mark Miller made his start in AMA Superbike racing, and made his Isle of Man TT debut in 2006, placing 11th and completing a 125+ mph lap in his first year. The lap record for Isle of Man in the senior category (all 1,000cc motorcycles) is 131mph average speed over the 38 mile course. This is a race that only the best of the best are invited to compete in, as it can turn formidable men into shivering boys.

LA Survived Carmaggedon!

405 wide open

With all the hype and drama surrounding Carmaggedon, it was difficult not to compare it to Y2K. There were peaceful protests, most notably by RailLA, our local high-speed rail advocacy group. RailLA exercised their right to free-speech by enlisting volunteers to hold their “LA Beyond Cars” banner aloft at a busy intersection near the 405. What’s truly appalling is that for $1billion all we’re getting is a few more miles of carpool lane along the 405.

What Economic Downturn? Bentley is Building an SUV

bentley_suv

Remember those years before 2008, when all the cool kids drove around in jacked-up 4×4 Hummers?  The boys at British luxury brand Bentley sure do, and (in the spirit of sincere, environmental responsibility) they’ve confirmed to Auto Motor und Sport that they’re cooking up a new, massively expensive, 3 ton (!) SUV. Why, you ask? [...]
