Thanks Victor! That's an excellent idea for an article. I will get on it. I wish I could go to Albacete in October to personally interview the top finishers at the World Championship TTXGP!

It is indeed a chess game, and requires racers to hold back to some degree, which is antithetical to the normal racer's mindset. On bikes with full capabilities, we push as hard as we dare, but on current electric bikes, battery conservation requires true competitive strategy.

I'd like to read an article about the strategies used to conserve juice during a race and when to turn it on full quack. It must be a chess game.

Hey, PINK RULES!

Actually, Dan, those first two laps were a warmup and a sighting lap, which is why the announcers were silent. These are traditional in ICE racing, but game-killers in electric racing (for now). I recently found out that Barnes did not realize until 20 minutes before the race that there would be two extra laps, so was not able to account for that distance. In TTXGP, the other series he competes in, there are no pre-race laps, for this very reason.

Czysz's bike may well have had the same setup he used for the 40 mile Isle of Man race, while Barnes's was set up for a 25 mile race. For most competitors, adding more batteries is more like building a bigger gas tank than just adding more gas, so the total event distance is critical information.

I still applaud Czysz for his ability to come from behind like that, and look forward to seeing these bikes continue in their development. Most of all, to the day when a Czysz is no costlier than a Ducati 1198S...

I missed the Bettimoto umbrella girls. Didn't see the grid, as I was watching the race from the T4 grandstands. Being an Italian team, I'm sure their girls were gorgeous.

Indeed, the lack of video coverage was disappointing. And it seemed like the announcers didn't begin commentary until the 3rd lap.

If FIM is going to pull strings to get the event on the schedule during MotoGp, why not show it some respect. The private teams work hard with little money.

Did you get an eye full of Bettimoto's umbrella girls??
