Revolutionary Improvement:

7. Bio-crude. By creating a crude oil from biomass such as waste from corn cobs or other agricultural products this “grassoline” could lead to a breakthrough in the adoption of renewable fuels worldwide.

Advantage: Bio-crude could take advantage of existing refining infrastructure with little extra investment.

Disadvantage: Very few companies are exploring it. Big Ag like ADM is one.

Example: RTI International, that just got research funding from ARPA-E

    Nice summary of many technologies, thanks. I would disagree with the points on GMO agriculture. I think there are too many uncertainties at this point in this area. They have not been able to show they can reliably increase food yields, despite the claims. And it is still an area where health and safety has not been adequately researched.
