Game Changer:
10. Plug-in hybrids. (The report lumps series and parallel hybrids together; ie both Volts and Priuses) A Volt driven under 40 miles every day between charges at night in a solar powered home is emissions-free but your carbon tonnage of reductions may vary – the reduction in carbon emissions depends on where the power comes from and will therefore vary by country and by states in the US.
Advantage: Cheaper to run than gas only = longterm good buy
Disadvantage: Capital cost of battery = short term disincentive
Example: Gas 2.0: 230 MPG Volt

Nice summary of many technologies, thanks. I would disagree with the points on GMO agriculture. I think there are too many uncertainties at this point in this area. They have not been able to show they can reliably increase food yields, despite the claims. And it is still an area where health and safety has not been adequately researched.

Intresting, but given recent developments re DoE just one mentioning of hydrogen.
